Is your website as up to date as it could be?

A few weeks ago my beloved Brentford FC were playing at home to local rivals Fulham - as there was a lot of interest in the game, it was moved to an 8pm kick-off on a Monday evening in order to be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

We usually like to grab a couple of pints and some food before the match, most often we'll do this at a pub close to the ground for a Saturday kick-off, but logistically it works a bit differently for an evening match as we're finishing up the working day, getting the kids sorted after school and so on.

A decision was made that myself, Dan and the boys would meet at a pub that's handily equidistant between our homes and a two minute walk from Staines station, from where Brentford is a leisurely 20 minute train journey.

Checking the pub's website on the morning of the match, it stated that food was served 'seven days a week, from midday to 9pm'. Perfect.

So as we rocked up to said pub at 5.30pm, we ordered a couple of pints and a couple of cokes, and at the same time asked for some menus and a table for four.

You can probably work out what's coming next...

"We don't serve food on Mondays I'm afraid sir".

I pointed out that their website said otherwise but it was a moot point as either way, that's not going to get the four of us fed.

So with pints hastily downed, we jumped on the train and settled for a sausage roll at the stadium - all fine but not the start to the evening that we had planned, and some goodwill lost between us and the pub for sure.

Hands up - the next day I checked The Bright Click website and there were a couple of things on there that we no longer offered or that were no longer relevant.

And from my experience, that's quite often the case - things change regularly in our businesses and lives, but can remain the same in the digital world for as long as it takes for somebody to remember to change it.

So if you've got ten spare minutes now - why not take a quick look through your website and see if there's anything you need to change?

The same applies to your social media channels - LinkedIn is a good place to start in case you've got previous team members still listed as working for you, or an old logo / slogan still doing the rounds.

Likewise it's an opportunity to add new team members, case studies and other content to your site / socials in the process.
